TrueGrid® Finite Element Model of a Starship Toy: View 4

finite element mesh of an imaginary starship

This model of a toy can be used to determine it's durability. It is constructed of all hexahedral brick elements, most of which are nearly orthogonal. The geometry was constructed in TrueGrid®. There are 10 parts. They form one contiguous model. Note that the end of the tube is formed by two surfaces. TrueGrid® was asked to place part of the end of the tube on one surface and another part onto the second surface. TrueGrid® automatically intersected the two surfaces, distributing the edges common to the two regions of the mesh along the intersection.
